Renovation: 2nd Month


Renovation: Day 21

The beginning of week five. Today we saw more floor tiling in the sanctuary and the hallway outside the chapel. Pews returned from the annex to the main nave. In anticipation of the flooring happening in the annex.

 

Renovation: Day 22

Well day 22 brings more flooring. Sanctuary required some slow and meticulous detail ensuring the tiles are level. Chapel tile installed. Hallway tile installed. Additionally,some painting, and outside of the building work cleaning the stations.


Renovation: Day 23

Day 23 in the books. Not a surprise, more floor being installed. In addition to the floor some staining on some of the frames that will be used in various locations.


Renovation: Day 24

Day twenty-four sees all of the tile laid in the sacristy, and much of the annex.  The frame for Our Lady of Guadalupe was also stained today.  Finally today we had some shoe molding delivered.  

Renovation: Day 25

Day 25’s progress. More tile laid in the annex and sanctuary. They were able to grout a good bit of the tile they laid over the last several days. And some more painting in the trim in the choir loft.

Renovation: Day 26

Another week, if you are keeping track it is week six of the project. Today not much that you will see, more grouting, and slip grip finish applied to the floor. Oh yeah, some more wood trim stained and window inset painting in the choir loft.

Renovation: Day 27

Today’s efforts brought some sanctuary furnishings back to the sanctuary. More painting in the window insets, and other painting where plaster had been repaired in some of the art work. Finally, a coat of finish on the shoe molding.

Renovation: Day 28

Renovation day 28. I did not get pictures today, but the crew continued to paint window insets. Another coat of finish on our wood frames and shoe molding. Some cleaning of basement walls, removing efflorescence, and preparation for a new coat of floor finish on the terrazzo throughout the building. Finally, Linda and I reconnected speakers, and other sound system wiring that was disconnected. Another great day of progress.

Renovation: Day 30

Friday was day 30 of renovation. The crew had a short day. Work included painting window insets, and cleaning and tidying up.

Renovation: Day 31

The beginning of week seven . Work continues to progress. Monday brought shoe molding and some repair work on the pews.

Renovation: Day 32

Day 32 of renovation: Pews reinstallation begins, and some modifications to the annex seating to allow more room for people in wheelchairs and scooters.

Renovation: Day 33

Renovation day 33: more pew fastening, wood trim going up around openings to the annex. Some more work on reconfiguring annex pews, to allow more space for wheel chairs, pews that have been removed have been relocated to the cemetery storage building, and some preparations for the installation of the new wood frames for the altars.

Renovation: Day 34

Renovation day 34. Project continues to progress nicely. Today the wood frames with metal work from the communion rail was installed on the altar of repose (below the tabernacle). Continued installing woodwork in the openings to the annex. Pews have been placed in the annex with space for wheel chairs. Final coats of floor finish applied on the terrazzo. Finally, the crew continued to fasten down pews in the main nave.
